Kate’s decade-long legal battle ended in Jan 2022 with a landmark judgment in Kate’s favour and the police paying all legal costs.

The judgment found that the deployment of undercover officer Mark Kennedy, and five other officers, into Kate’s life and political movements ‘….was not necessary in a democratic society and not proportionate’ and was ‘…not in accordance with the law’.

As well as lengthy, the case covered lots of technical legal ground and much of what was discussed could not be publicised.
