We do not agree with the destruction of the ROD gardens!

ROD is the name of a community garden project located in Warsaw city, Poland. It is cared for by a collective linked to the European network Reclaim the Fields. RTF opposes itself to land-grabbing in Europe and to the global food market. On the area of abandoned allotment gardens, the collective garden allows for the production of high-quality food, independent energy sources and technologies alternative to those having a destructive impact on our environment. ROD is a horizontaly-organized open space in which knowledge and skills are transferred freely and in an accessible way.

The gardens at ROD are now under threat of destruction by the construction company Dom Development. Dom Development has announced that within 10 days a large part of the area, including all buildings and a wind turbine will be completely demolished. The wind turbine provides clean energy to the project and was built by an international group of artists. The wind turbine has been the subject of workshops on renewable energy at ROD.

Demolition of the tower and turbine has been ordered by PINB (Construction Supervision Authority). However Dom Development has decided itself to cut all trees, destroy all buildings and level the gardens in order to make the area unuseable.

In Warsaw there is a lack of places which distribute information on the global food market and its impact. The existence of groups such as ROD, which promote the idea of food and energy sovereignty as well as local self-government, is very valuable. The ROD collective works hard to freely share their knowledge on a variety of subjects (eg. construction of wind turbines, the production of non-GM seeds, gardening, using recycled materials).

Urbanisation and building development (such as in Warsaws Mokotow district where ROD collective works) may present themselves as progressive; providing living space for the city’s growing population. However office and business spaces take priority over homes and the city expands into the last areas of healthy land.

Urbanisation is not progress!

We do not agree with the mindless destruction of these gardens!

We appeal to leave the ROD area intact!

Non à la destruction des Jardins ROD !

Varsovie, 10 Août 2016

ROD est le nom d’un projet de jardins communeautaires à Varsovie, en Pologne, porté par un collectif proche du réseau européen de Reclaim the Fields. RTF lutte contre la privatisation de la terre, le “land-grabbing” et contre la commercialisation des ressources. ROD utilise l’espace d’anciens jardins ouvriers pour produire des aliments de qualité, expérimenter dans les domaines de l’énergie et des technologies durables. Le collectif est organisé horizontalement. Il est ouvert à tou_te_s et a à coeur de rendre accessibles savoirs et compétences.

Les jardins et le collectif de ROD sont actuellement sérieusement menacés par l’investisseur Dom Development. Dom Development nous a donné dix jours avant d’entamer la destruction d’une grande partie du terrain comprenant entre autres une salle de séjour, un atelier ainsi qu’une éolienne. Cette éolienne, qui nous fournit en électricité, a été construite par un groupe d’artistes internationaux notammant lors d’ateliers sur les énergies renouvelables.

La démolition de cette éolienne est ordonnée par le PINB (autorité responsable des permis de construire). Cependant, la décision de couper les arbres, detruire les bâtiments et les jardins afin de rendre l’espace inutilisable est celle de Dom Development.

Il y a peu d’endroits à Varsovie où l’on peut s’informer sur le marché global alimentaire et ses impacts. Il est important que des groupes tels que ROD, qui promeuvent l’idée d’indépendance alimentaire et énergétique ainsi que d’auto-

gouvernance locale, existent.

Les plans d’urbanisation et de dévéloppement (tels que dans le quartier de Mokotów où se trouvent les jardins) se disent progressifs en ce qu’ils offrent des logements pour une population en croissance. Leur priorité est cependant plutôt la construction de bureaux et d’espaces commerciaux dont la conséquence est l’éradication des dernières terres saines et communeautaires de la ville.

L’urbanisation n’est pas le progrès !

Nous nous opposons à la destruction irresponsable de ces jardins !

Nous exigeons que les terrains de ROD soient préservés !

Wir sind nicht einverstanden mit der Zerstörung der ROD Gärten!

ROD ist der Name eines Nachbarschaftsgarten-Projekts in Warschau, Polen. Es wird von einem Kollektiv gepflegt, das mit dem europäischen Netzwerk Reclaim the fields verknüpft ist. RTF stellt sich gegen Landraub in Europa und gegen den globalen Nahrungsmittelmarkt. Auf dem Gelände einer verlassenen Kleingartensiedlung ermöglicht der Gemeinschaftsgarten die Produktion von hochwertigen Lebensmitteln, unabhängigen Energiequellen und Alternativen zu den Technologien, die zerstörerische Folgen für unsere Umwelt haben. ROD ist ein horizontal organisierter offener Raum, in dem Wissen und Fähigkeiten frei und allen zugänglich geteilt werden.

Den ROD Gärten droht nun der Abriss durch die Baufirma Dom Development. Dom Development hat verkündet, dass innerhalb von 10 Tagen ein Großteil des Geländes, darunter auch alle Gebäude und eine Windturbine, vollständig zerstört werden sollen. Die Windturbine liefert saubere Energie an das Projekt und wurde von einer internationalen Gruppe von Künstlern gebaut. Die Windturbine warGegenstand von Workshops zu erneuerbarer Energie in ROD.

Der Abriss des Turms und der Turbine wurde von PINB, der Bauaufsichtsbehörde, angeordnet. Dennoch entschied Dom Development eigenmächtig, alle Bäume zu fällen, alle Gebäude zu zerstören und die Gärten einzuebnen, um so die Fläche unbrauchbar zu machen.

In Warschau mangelt es an Orten, die Informationen über den globalen Nahrungsmittelmarkt und seine Folgen verteilen. Die Existenz von Gruppen wie ROD, die Nahrungs- und Energiesouveränität sowie lokale Selbstverwaltung fördern, ist sehr wichtig. Das ROD Kollektiv arbeitet hart daran, Wissen über eine Vielzahl an Themen (z.B. Bau von Windturbinen, Produktion von gentechnikfreiem Saatgut, Gärtnern, Wiederverwendung von recycleten Materialien) zu vermitteln.

Urbanisierung und Bauvorhaben (wie z.B. in Warschaus Stadtteil Mokotow, in dem das ROD Kollektiv arbeitet) mögen sich vielleicht als fortschrittlich darstellen; indem sie Wohnraum für die wachsende Stadtbevölkerung schaffen. Büro- und Geschäftsgebäude werden jedoch über Wohnraum gestellt und die Stadt breitet sich in die letzten gesunden Gebiete aus.

Urbanisierung ist kein Fortschritt!

Wir sind nicht mit der sinnlosen Zerstörung dieser Gärten einverstanden!

Nie zgadzamy się na zniszczenie ROD!

ROD to nazwa ogrodów społecznych, którym opiekuje się kolektyw powiązany z europejską siecią Reclaim the Fields, przeciwstawiający się nasilającemu zjawisku grabieży ziemi w miastach i na wsi, oraz globalnemu rynkowi żywności. Przestrzeń dawnych ogrodów działkowych, na terenie których działa kolektyw ROD, daje możliwość eksperymentowania z produkcją zdrowej, wysokowartościowej żywności, niezależnymi źródłami energii i technologiami, które pozwolą zastąpić te używane dziś, a mające destrukjcyjny wpływ na środowisko. ROD to oddolnie zorganizowana przestrzeń dostępna dla każdego, w której wiedza i umiejętności przekazywane są za darmo i w przystępny sposób.

Jednak wszelkie działania społeczne są solą w oku wielkich korporacji. Spółka Dom Development zapowiedziała, że w ciagu dwóch tygodni zniszczona zostanie duża część ogrodów i stojących tam obiektów, w tym instalacji stworzonej przez międzynarodową grupę artystów, na której umieszczona jest turbina wiatrowa – przedmiot warsztatów dotyczących odnawialnych źródeł energii. Dekonstrukcja instalacji z turbiną wynika z nakazu Powiadowego Inspektora Nadzoru Budowlanego, jednak zrównanie z ziemią większej przestrzeni ogrodów to już pomysł Dom Development. Spółka ma świadomość, że takie działanie to strata pieniędzy, ponieważ wciąż nie posiada ani praw do całości gruntu, ani praw do zabudowy. Przez ponad rok nie zwracała uwagi na działania kolektywu, mimo świadomości jego istnienia, ale teraz decyduje się na drastyczne kroki, które nie przyniosą pożytku ani jej, ani społeczności lokalnej.

Tymczasem w Warszawie wciąż brakuje miejsc, które w przejrzysty sposób szerzyłyby informację na temat światowego rynku żywnością i jego wpływu na sytuację lokalną. Istnienie grupy, która promuję ideę suwerenności żywnościowej i energetycznej, oraz lokalnej samorządnosci jest bardzo cenne. Tym bardziej, że kolektyw w niekomercyjny sposób dzieli się wiedzą z zakresu uprawy i technologii (np. budowy małych turbin wiatrowych, produkcji nasion niemodyfikowanych genetycznie, ogrodnictwa, techniki budowy z materiałów z recyklingu, itp.)

Ziemia, powietrze, woda i energia stanowią podstawę naszego życia. Nie wyobrażamy sobie, że moglibyśmy płacić za dostęp do powietrza lub słońca. Już teraz coraz częściej prywatyzowane są zasoby wody, czy patentowane poszczególne gatunki roślin i zwierząt. Opłata licencyjna za posadzenie ogórka jest zwyczajnie absurdalna, tak samo jak absurdalne jest prawo by w imię zysku niszczyć, zatruwać bądź zabudowywać ogromne obszary gruntów, dzięki którym mamy co jeść. Szaleństwem jest pozbawianie się jedzenia produkowanego w najbliższej okolicy na rzecz importu na przykład z USA, Hiszpanii czy Kambodży. Ci, którzy kontrolują ziemię, kontrolują nasze życie, ponieważ to oni mają władzę nad tym co, i czy w ogóle, pojawi się na naszym stole.

Urbanizacja i rozbudowa, taka jak na warszawskim Mokotowie, gdzie działa kolektyw ROD, może przedstawiać siebie jako postęp zapewniający przestrzeń życiową dla rosnącej populacji miasta. Jednak rynek mieszkań i wynajmu tworzony jest przez spekulantów, a pułapki kredytowe i podwyższanie czynszów stwarzają warunki do tak zwanych „legalnych” eksmisji. W centrum miasta przestrzenie biurowe i biznesowe mają pierwszeństwo w stosunku do mieszkań. W rezultacie władze oddają deweloperom także ostatnie przestrzenie społeczne w pozostałych dzielnicach, z których do tej pory mieszkańcy korzystali za darmo. Wszystko w ospowiedzi na rzekomo rosnący głód mieszkaniowy.

Szkody dla środowiska powodowane przez takie projekty budowlane są ogromne i opierają się na całkowitym lekceważeniu zaspobów lokalnych. Nawet jeżeli ludzie mają nowe domy to środowisko w jakim przychodzi im żyć przypomina zabetonowaną klatkę z logiem osiedla, a ostatnim miejscem publicznym jest przystanek autobusowy. Urbanizacja to nie rozwój. Rozwój to zachowanie i odtworzenie zdrowej ziemi, produkcja żywności, dostęp do czystej wody i zrównoważone korzystanie z zasobów.

Dostęp do ziemi uważamy za podstawową gwarancję niezależności i praw każdego człowieka. Dlatego nie zgadzamy się na bezmyślne niszczenie terenu zielonego, który z przyczyn prawnych w ciągu najbliższych lat nie może zostać zagospodarowany w żaden inny sposób. Apelujemy o pozostawienie terenu ROD w nienaruszonym stanie!
