Germany: LAUtonomia Forest Occupation Being Evicted (ENG,ES,DEU,FR)

18th May, at 8am cops entered the forest and began an eviction of Lautonomia, a forest occupation and treesit on theedgeof forest being destroyed by the encroaching Prosim Wezlow open cast lignite mine and the site of the massive blockades of equipment, mine, railroad, and electrical power plant just the previous week by Ende Galende German Climate Camp.  The eviction follows weeks of harassment by the police such as confiscation of climbing harnesses and the arrests of those refusing to identify themselves as well as a local disinformation campaign accusing Lautonomia activists of violence as the number of local neonatzi attacks on the activists has increased.  The  proceeding repression and the eviction has been an attempt to detract from the success of recent action as well as to continue the practice of not just of ecological desctruction and paving the road to ensuing climate chaos but of local authorities functioning as a destructive and repressive arm of the corporate lignite extraction aparatus. With the repression and the ensuing charges as usual being consumed by their own Kafkaesque logic.

Regardless Lautopia has been and continues to be a  project which doesn’t only fight against brown coal mining and burning,  but against all other forms of domination – besides the open cast mines and the power plants, these being a military training area of the german army.

Here is a chronological breakdown of the days events:

8:45 am
The occupation is being surrounded by the cops. Climbing cops aswell as a wheel loader with a shovel and a ladder attached to it are on site. Ropes and connections between the trees are cut.

9:10 am
Identity checks, a first person is taken into custody. The accusation: trespassing.

9:15 am
Police doesn’t react to questions regarding the reason or cause for their demeanour.

9:20 am
They are not trying to reach the trees with an actual lifting platform, but with a ladder standing on a wheel loader. People aren’t told to which police station they are taken.

9:35 am
The occupation mobile phone is taken by the police. Press people, please come around!!!

11:08 am
Come to the police station in Weißwasser to support the people who are detained there! Be aware, Nazis could be in the area…

10:20 am
There is no contact anymore to the occupation! We wish everyone in the trees and at the police station all the strength we have!

11:10 am
Parlamentarian observers are on their way to the occupation.

11:55 am
Everyone in custody is accused of: trespassing, property damage, environmental crimes (?!) Environmental crimes usually are things like air or water pollution – so, WHO is the environmental criminal here???

People who gave their personal details are also held at the police station in Weisswasser.

21 activists have been taken to custody to the police station in Weisswasser after the occupation was evicted. As far as we know the eviction is concluded, but we’ll keep posting news here.

Most likely, two more people are going to be shown to the magistrate tomorrow. The identities of both persons are known, both are non-german citizens.

§315b section 3 is supposed to be the reason for their bail hearing, a paragraph dealing with dangerous interference with road traffic. This has allegedly happened in the context of Ende Gelaende. The minimum penalty is 6 months for a less severe case, and between 1 and 10 years for a more severe case.

Interesting: Exactly these people had been set free on the weekend….  This shows how randomly the state prosecutors changed their mind.

LAUTONOMIA DESALOJADA !

18 de mayo de 2016, la ocupación forestal en la zona minera de lignito lusaciana es interceptado por la policía.

La ocupación ha existido desde el comienzo de marzo de 2016. La zona minera de lignito lusaciana cerca de Cottbus / Brandenburg es operada por la empresa de energía Vattenfall y es uno de los cuatro cuencas de lignito situadas en Alemania.

Las ocupaciones de árboles en Lusacia y Renania supuestamente son obstáculos para las obras de deforestación, relacionadas con la expansión de las minas a cielo abierto. No podemos considerar esta lucha sólo desde nuestro punto de vista – muchas otras personas y grupos están activos a nuestro lado.

Lautonomia reporta:

Durante los días antes, se han producido crecientemente alrededor de la ocupación así llamados “cheques sin sospecha” de vehículos, ciclistas y peatones, cuando correspondieron a los ojos de la policía con su clasificación basada solamente en apariencia.
Esta mañana, nuestr∗s amig∗s se han despertado por la policía que rodearon las cabañas en los árboles y comenzaron a destruir las travesías entre ellas.
Cualquier razón para el desalojo no fue revelado, incluso después de preguntas repetidas. Finalmente, sin embargo, uno de los policías se rebajó a decirnos que la evacuación se llevó a cabo completamente sin razón.
Mientras que bajo los árboles, las primeras de muchas personas fueron detenidas y nuestr∗s amig∗s parcialmente fueron llevad∗s fuera del bosque, una unidad de policías de escalada se prepararon para tomar las cabañas en los árboles. Probablemente un ascensor adecuado, al menos más o menos seguro fue demasiado caro. Así una cargadora sobre ruedas fue utilizada en cuya pala algún genio de la ingeniería había atado una escalera.
Esta construcción fue trasladada hasta las cabañas en los árboles, aunque puso en peligro no sólo nuestra seguridad de una manera mortal, pero también la de todos los demás presentes. (traducción en curso)
Besides more people were lead out of the forest. Their phones were taken from all of them in order to prevent any communication both with us and with a lawyer, in spite of the legal right of access to them.
The events in the run-up (see Twitter and our blog) can thus have been not just a mere coincidence, as they tried to hoodwink us. Also the time right at the beginning of the Forest Week (see blog) is impossible to see as a coincidence.

We will not be intimidated, not even by this wave of repression, which started some days ago!
We will come back and reoccupy, again and again, until the brown coal mining finally will have been terminated!

[Lautonomia] Räumung jetzt!

dem 18. Mai 2016, wird die Waldbesetzung im Lausitzer Braunkohlerevier von der Polizei geräumt.

Die Besetzung besteht seit Anfang März 2016.Das Lausitzer Braunkohlerevier bei Cottbus / Brandenburg wird von dem Energie Konzern Vattenfall betrieben und gehört mit zu den 4 in Deutschland befindlichen Braunkohle Revieren.

Die Besetzung der Bäume in der Lausitz und dem Rheinland sollen den weiteren Rodungungsarbeiten und der damit verbundenen Ausweitung der Tagebaue im Weg sein. Diesen Kampf können wir nicht allein aus unserer Sicht betrachten – viele andere Menschen und Gruppen sind an unserer Seite aktiv.

Lautonomia meldet:

In den letzten Tagen kam es rund um die Besetzung vermehrt zu sogenannten „verdachtsunabhängigen“ Kontrollen von Fahrzeugen, Fahrradfahrern und Fußgängern, die für die Polizist_Innen in ein auf Äußerlichkeiten beruhendes Schema passten.
Heute morgen dann wurden unsere Freund_Innen von Polizist_Innen geweckt, die unsere Baumhäuser umstellten und anfingen, die Traversen dazwischen zu zerstören.
Ein Grund für die Räumung wurde auch auf vermehrtes Nachfragen nicht genannt. Letztendlich ließ sich allerdings einer der Polizist_Innen dazu herab, uns mitzuteilen, dass die Räumung vollkommen grundlos durchgeführt werde.
Während unten dann die ersten von vielen Festnahmen durchgeführt wurden und unsere Freund_Innen teilweise aus dem Wald herausgetragen wurden, machte sich eine Einheit Kletterpolizist_Innen bereit, die Baumhäuser zu stürmen. Weil eine richtige, wenigstens halbwegs sichere Hebebühne wohl zu teuer war, kam dazu auch ein Radlader zur Hilfe, in dessen Schaufel irgendein Ingenieursgenie eine Leiter festgebunden hatte.
Mit dieser Konstruktion, die nicht nur unsere, sondern auch die Sicherheit aller anderen Beteiligten lebensbedrohlich gefährdet, wurde sodann an die Baumhäuser herangefahren.

Nebenbei wurden weitere Menschen aus dem Wald herausgetragen; allen wurden die Handys abgenommen, um eine Kommunikation sowohl mit uns als auch mit dem rechtlich zustehenden anwaltlichen Beistand zu unterbinden.

Die Ereignisse im Vorfeld (siehe Twitter und unser Blog) dürften damit nicht, wie versucht wurde, uns weiszumachen, nur bloßer Zufall gewesen sein. Auch der Zeitpunkt direkt zu Beginn der Waldwoche (siehe Blog) kann unmöglich als Zufall verstanden werden.

Wir werden uns auch von dieser vor Tagen begonnenen Welle der Repression nicht einschüchtern lassen!
Wir werden wiederkommen und wieder besetzen und zwar so oft und so lange, bis der Braunkohleabbau endlich gestoppt ist!

Lautonomia évincée !

Aujourd’hui, le 18 mai 2016, l’occupation forestière dans la région minière de lignite en Lusace a été évincée par la police.

L’occupation a existé depuis le début de Mars 2016. Le bassin minier de lignite en Lusace près de Cottbus / Brandebourg est exploité par la société d’énergie Vattenfall et est l’un des quatre bassins de lignite situés en Allemagne.

Les occupations d’arbres en Lusace et en Rhénanie sont prétendument des obstacles aux travaux hivernaux de déforestation, liés à l’expansion des mines à ciel ouvert. Nous ne pouvons pas considérer cette lutte seulement de notre point de vue – beaucoup d’autres personnes et groupes sont actifs de notre côté.

Lautonomia rapporte :

Déjà pendant les jours précédents, il y a eu autour de l’occupation de plus en plus ce que l’on appelle des « contrôles sans soupçon » de véhicules, cyclistes et piétons, qui correspondaient dans les yeux de la police à une classification basée uniquement sur l’apparence.
Puis, ce matin, nos ami∗s ont été réveillé∗s par les flics qui entouraient nos cabanes d’arbres et ont commencé à détruire les traverses entre eux.
Quel est le motif de l’expulsion n’a pas été divulgué, même après des demandes répétées. En fin de compte, cependant, l’un d’entre eux s’est condescendu à nous dire que l’évacuation a été réalisée entièrement sans raison.
Tandis que sous les arbres les premières de nombreuses arrestations ont été effectuées et nos ami∗s en partie ont été enlevé∗s de la forêt, une unité de police d’escalade s’est préparée à prendre les cabanes dans les arbres. Probablement un ascenseur approprié et au moins à peu près sûr, était trop cher. Donc, une chargeuse sur roues a été utilisée sur laquelle un génie d’ingénierie avait noué une échelle dans la pelle.
Cette construction a été avancée aux cabanes dans les arbres, bien-qu’elle mette sérieusement en danger non seulement nos vies, mais aussi celles de toutes les autres personnes présentes.
En outre d’autre gens ont été portées dehors de la forêt. Leurs téléphones ont été confisquées de chacun∗ d’eux afin d’empêcher toute communication avec nous et avec un∗ avocat∗, en dépit du droit légal d’accès à elle-lui.
Ainsi, les événements de la période précédente (voir twitter et notre blogue) peuvent avoir été non seulement une simple coïncidence, comme l’on a essayé de nous faire croire. Aussi le moment, exactement au début de la semaine de la forêt (voir blog), est impossible de regarder comme une coïncidence.
Nous ne sommes pas intimidé∗s, pas même par cette vague de répression, qui a commencé il y a quelques jours!
Nous reviendrons et réoccuperons, encore et encore, jusqu’à ce que l’exploitation du lignite finalement sera terminée!
